Greetings all,
We are a group of like-minded people, pro-environmentalists, who are trying to save our environment from intentional destruction in the name of development.
Currently we are united against a well known and prominent builder, Prestige Developers, whose latest SmartCity project on Sarjapura Road is progressing in gross violation of building rules and NGT norm and this project will completely kill the Sarjapur Doddakere lake and the surrounding eco system.
Here are the few points that we have discovered and wanted to share to appeal to your better judgment.
1- Their construction plan is not yet approved at all levels. Its due to sheer clout and money power that the work is progressing.
2- The project encroaches the lake bed and blocks the rajkalve ( feeder channels) to the lake. This blockage automatically will suffocate the lake and once the bed is dry, encroachment will happen rampantly.
We are passionate about our lakes as they are our lifelines. They are our heritage and for us to safe-keep and protect for our children.
We will fight till the end. If the work does not cease and guidelines are not follows, this might need intervention from the judicial Courts of our country.
Think and invest wisely. Your hard earned money should not be lost to the greed of the builders. Please follow the developments closely and let other also know.
Can you sleep in peace knowing the project you are investing in has killed a lake? It’s like a murder!
Following links will explain to you what are the violations are and why your money is at risk. The investors and the investment can get encumbered in a law suit and you will not be able to undo your decision. This is the right time to take the right decision.
As the awareness rises, fights for what’s right will get stronger. Decide well and be proud of your decision.
In Cochin a 139 numbers apartment has been ordered to demolish due to the building rule violations. A similar clean up drive was undertaken in Jaipur where illegal construction on a water way were demolished. Times are changing. Be the change.
So see all the violations and reports before you invest in prestige SmartCity project.

The lake that Prestige is violating with this project is called Sarjapura Doddakere ( a sizeable big lake). It is comparable to the size of Lalbaug, the Botanical Gardens, of Bengaluru city, it spans over 200 acres and receives flood waters from more than 10 surrounding villages.
The Prestige project will block the rain water that should enter this lake and will cause flash floods situation to the residents of SmartCity and the surrounding areas. This put the whole area at risk. In this process the lake will fall prey to more encroachment as the bed remains dry. In addition to this, a part of the lake is covered into a mini forest, where flocks of peacocks and other wildlife have been spotted. All these creatures face an uncertain future because of the SmartCity. Is it really smart of us?
We all have, once or many times, asked the question “why doesn’t someone do something?”.
This is your opportunity.
Do something right.
Do something to be proud of.
